Ever wanted to gain a glimpse of academic life at a place other than your alma mater? The University of Chester’s Warrington Campus, the former Padgate Training College, will celebrate its 65th anniversary on 30 May 2015 by opening its doors to the public from 10:00 to 16:00 (BST). First recognised by the Department of Education in 1949, the campus is a centre for teaching and research in public service, business, media, and sport. (more…)

The Warrington Guardian announced that the town’s Irish community will have a week-long celebration of cultural traditions from March 14-20. It opens with free Irish entertainment in the Old Market Place at the Golden Square between 12pm to 4pm on March 14. A range of events will follow throughout the week, finishing on March 20 with an Irish Ceilidh dance to be held at the Pyramid. Everyone is invited to attend the events and encouraged to paint the town green.

The Chester Chronicle recently posted a list of what’s on in the coming weeks within the areas of Chester, Flintshire, and Cheshire. This includes events, music and gigs, shows and theatres, and exhibitions scheduled up to early April.

 

If you are a plant lover, you might want to attend the Spring Plant Fair at Arley Hall and Gardens scheduled for Sunday April 12. Sets of unusual trees, shrubs, and spring flowering bulbs will be shown on specialist plant nurseries. Attendees can ask questions about gardening from Arley gardeners during the fair. Visitors can eat at the superb Tudor Barn restaurant. Entrance for children is free.

Tom Coleridge, a 23-year-old former soldier, joined the Love Warrington event last February 14th as reported by Cheshire Today. Coleridge acted as the champion of the Warrington Disability Partnership as a part of the event held at the Golden Square. The aim of the event was to promote Warrington as a tourist destination by showcasing the great things to love about the town. The day was filled with family activities such as giveaways, performances, and character visits. Participating venues included Live Wire, The Jungle, The Village, The Park Royal, and Gulliver’s World.
